Are You Unknowingly Harboring Anger?
The Wisdom, Science, & Strategies for Moving Forward With Conviction
The Wisdom…
Anger is a powerfully disruptive emotion. If you are knowingly or unknowingly harboring anger, it’s weighing you down, blocking you from moving forward. Forgiveness is not absolution. Forgiveness is freedom - it is for giving yourself the freedom to release the judgmental and critical thoughts you’ve been holding about another person, a situation, or yourself.
Forgiveness is not about giving absolution to the wrongdoer or the situation or even yourself. It’s about letting go of the negatively charged feelings so you can liberate your mind, body, and spirit from the chains of past, growth inhibiting energy. This release frees you to move forward in your self and your life.
The Science…
You have about 60,000 thoughts per day, roughly 40 per minute. Science shows that your thoughts generate the energy that fuels your body and shapes your experiences and perception of the world. Simply put, thoughts become experiences; energy flows where thoughts go AND everything is energy.
When you hold onto anger and/or withhold forgiveness from yourself, very often you believe your guilt and self-recrimination act as some sort of deserved penance, punishment, or restitution. This too is an illusion.
When you withhold forgiveness, from yourself or others, you’re trying to protect yourself from fear you are harboring. When you harbor a fear of any sort, you’re creating and holding onto self-defeating and unsupportive energy that eventually creates blocks in all aspects of yourself and your life.
Thoughts become your reality - they either block you from moving forward or they facilitate your ongoing growth and progression.
Of all the kinds of forgiveness, self-forgiveness is at the top of the list.
The Strategy…
When you withhold forgiveness from others, you may believe you’re protecting yourself from something or someone or perhaps even punishing someone. Not true - it’s an illusion that you can protect yourself from or with your own emotional reactions. You can’t.
Whether you’re conscious of it or not, your emotional responses become the energy that fuels you – your health, your emotions, your experiences – everything. By replacing the thoughts connected to withholding forgiveness, you establish limitless fertile ground for new, more supportive thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and energy.
When you find yourself judging or harboring negativity for yourself, others, or a situation…pause, be gentle with yourself and choose thoughts, ideas, and scenarios which support your forward momentum into thriving.
